When it comes to the maintenance of your chainsaw there are some very important things to remember. Paint Roller Cover

First of all your going to need a gas can specifically marked "mixed gas" there has been many times chainsaws have been filled with raw gas like we use in our every day vehicles today. You will find the proper mixing oil at your local home improvement retailers and your local chainsaw repair shops. It is best to use the high grade gas to mix with your mixing oil. This is the same kind of gas you can get at any local gas station. When it comes to the oil that you will need for the bar oil I highly suggest for you to use the bar oil that is recommended for chainsaws, because it is especially designed to stay on the cutting bar better when in use. Now here are more some suggestions to keep in mind to maintain your chainsaw in top working order. It best to purchase a file to fit your chain to keep it in quality cutting condition. Also you might want to consider and electric chainsaw sharpener they are great and they are fast for getting the best results in a sharp chain. Another reason for a chainsaw sharpener is to correct the chain if it is sharper on one side than the other and it will not cut in a straight line and you will find your self having to work harder to get the job done. Bypass Secateurs

Here are some of the things you will run into to cause your chain to become dull. Anytime you hit the dirt while your cutting any log or tree that will automatically reduce the effectiveness of your chainsaw. Be careful when your cutting into a tree if you stay away from any imperfections in the tree it could be a nail that has been grow over with time and this will ruin your chain. Then is when it's best to be carrying a file with you to the woods to be able to at least sharpen it to correct it. Also I like to carry a plastic wedge with me if I might get the chainsaw stuck in a tree and that is easily done.

Next I recommend having a chain guard to place over your chain to protect it from being bumped or you might even cut yourself by hitting it. All a chain guard is a plastic cover you can find online at any auction site or your local dealer.

I like to keep a repair manual around, because you never know when you might need it. I have seen online some that have been transferred to a CD's and they work and they are rather cheap, but not if your going to need it outside.

Keeping your chainsaw clean after using it will be a good habit to get into. I like to take off the filter cover and use my air compressor to blow out the filter and the surrounding areas. It will make for a more efficient running chainsaw. Also I like to take the chain cover guard off and repeat the process. This suggestion to me has been one of the most important things to do, it is always empty the fuel reservoir because when you put up your saw for the season the gas will deter ate and soften the gas line to where it will not be able to allow the fuel to be transferred to the carburator. The gas in the tank will cause it to gel and collaspe. Be sure to store your saw in a dry and secure place while in storage. Aviation Tin Snips

Finally if you're not going to be using a chainsaw allot, you might want to consider an electric chain saw. They are very convenient especially when all you're going to be using it for is trimming the limbs around your shrubbery and they are known to be of a less trouble to keep up. There is one more thing to consider when using an electric chain saw is the hassle of having to keep up with the extension cord and possibly cutting it.
